Landscape Practice
An exercise from CG Boost’s “Master 3D Environments in Blender” course, with Martin Klekner. It is practice, not a commission, and it is here because the subject it trains is the one that shows up most later: building a natural environment that holds up both from far away and up close.
The trees are distributed with scattering, which is the only way to populate a landscape without placing every element by hand or letting the pattern show. The water and the mountain were built with procedural textures too.
The practice was developed without using any image-based materials. Every material is procedural, which made it possible to control the construction and variation of each surface.
