Nuup Web Services
Una marca construida sobre una palabra maya que significa conexión, y un símbolo que la enlaza.
Nuup Web Services es un estudio dedicado nada más a páginas web y servicios en la nube. Cuando llegó el encargo no había nada: ni logo, ni identidad, ni nombre. Empecé por el naming, y antes del primer trazo me metí a ver qué estaba haciendo la competencia.
El nombre viene del maya nuup, que significa conexión, unir, unión. De ahí salió el resto de la identidad. En el centro del logo hay una N que se reconoce sin esfuerzo, aunque no esté dibujada del todo literal, y el espacio negativo entre sus trazos forma un eslabón de cadena. Dos piezas entrelazadas, que es lo que hace Nuup entre sus clientes y las soluciones web y de nube que les arma.
La paleta lleva un azul profundo de base y un azul cielo de acento, sobre blanco o sobre negro según dónde se aplique. Los azules se eligieron porque leen como tecnología y confianza. La tipografía es Chillax, de espaciado abierto y carácter relajado, y le quita rigidez a una marca que de por sí habla de código y servidores.
Nuup Web Services is a studio that does nothing but websites and cloud services. When the job came in there was nothing: no logo, no identity, no name. I started with the naming, and before the first sketch I went and looked at what the competition was doing.
The name comes from the Mayan nuup, which means connection, to join, union. The rest of the identity grew out of that. At the center of the logo there is an N you recognize without effort, even though it is not drawn literally, and the negative space between its strokes forms a chain link. Two pieces locked together, which is what Nuup does between its clients and the web and cloud solutions it puts together for them.
The palette runs a deep blue as the base with a sky blue accent, on white or on black depending on where it lands. The blues were chosen because they read as technology and trust. The typeface is Chillax, open-spaced and easygoing, and it takes the stiffness out of a brand that already talks about code and servers.
